Community Partners

Ability Online is proud to have over 200 community and health care partnerships across Canada and the United States. These partnerships are primarily with acute care and pediatric hospitals, rehabilitation centres, group homes, and other health-related organizations, as well as some schools and other community associations.

The principle behind establishing these partnerships is to reach needy people “in situ”, precisely when and where they are undergoing treatment and could use the extra support, friendship, and knowledge from those who have ‘been there’.  Since Ability Online can be accessed from any computer/device with internet access, it’s usually available at our partners’ sites, and can stay with members once they have returned home.

Ability Online has two main types of health care and community partners:

• Referral partners, who display our posters and brochures and offer Ability Online information to patients or clients; and
• Satellite Partners, who have staff members or volunteers who are trained to register members to Ability Online on-site, and offer hands-on assistant to members during treatment.
